Customer complains about £239 meal for two at Gordon Ramsay restaurant without alcohol

A customer has criticized the £239 meal-for-two served at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Liverpool, despite not having any alcohol. The unhappy customer claimed to have waited years to sample the Beef Wellington from Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant, however, the food was allegedly “disgusting” and overpriced. The meal included a starter of one piece of tuna, four chicken wings, and a slither of beef. The main meal had four slices of Beef Wellington and a portion of mashed potato, while the dessert was one small chocolate fondant, one small cheesecake without a biscuit base, and three scoops of ice cream. They also ordered three bottles of water, which cost £5.50 each, bringing the total bill to £239.

The unhappy customer left a negative review on Google, stating that the food was not up to a great standard and that he would not return to the restaurant even if it was offered again for £40. The review further added that the food was “overpriced trash” and advised others to avoid the place unless they like burning cash. Bread Street Kitchen and Bar, which is owned by Gordon Ramsay, offers the Beef Wellington Experience for £95 per person, with a Passionfruit Royale, on the menu.

The restaurant menu includes starters to share, such as spicy tuna tartare, avocado, crisp wonton and sesame; spiced tamarind chicken wings with spring onions and coriander, and roast beef Carpaccio with truffle crème fraiche dressing. The main course is Ramsay’s famous Beef Wellington for two, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and red wine. Finally, the dessert is BSK’s signature-sharing platter. The customers may have paid the hefty bill, but they claim to have had no alcohol whatsoever during their meal.

The Liverpool restaurant of Gordon Ramsay, called Bread Street Kitchen and Bar, has a 3.9-star rating on Google. A discretionary 12.5% service charge will be added to the final bill. This is not the first time that Gordon Ramsay has faced criticism for his expensive menu. Back in March, he was slammed after charging £1,000 for the ‘ultimate’ Mother’s Day meal, and the price didn’t include alcohol. The representatives of Gordon Ramsay Restaurants have been approached for comment.
